Chemical safety at the Metrology Research Institute

  • Do not use chemicals which you do not know.
  • Chemicals used at MRI are listed in Kemikaaliluettelo. The list contains links to Medical Safety Data Sheets (MSDS, Käyttöturvallisuustiedote) of all listed chemicals.
  • Before using a chemical you do not know, read the MSDS.
  • If the chemical you plan to use is not listed, contact the Laboratory engineer (P. Kärhä).
  • When purchasing new chemicals, get the MSDS. Arrange with the laboratory engineer that the new chemical is added to the list.

    These instructions serve two major purposes:

  • The MSDS lists possible hazards of the chemicals, which helps in preventing accidents.
  • The MSDS also lists first aid procedures, which helps in limiting damages in case an accident happens.
